60D night RAW photography
06/24/2011 - Photography

It was last minute decision along with a sale on Sobe Adrenaline Rush resulting in being very awake on arriving in Iron Mountain after a great night of worship at the Cup O Joy on Friday.

I always wanted to go back to the Jesus praying statue just outside of town with the 7mm 180 degree fisheye lens and the new 60D body. My last shoot with it, was with the EOS3 and some 400 speed AGFA b/w film, and that is some fun nighttime long exposure shots. I wanted to see how the 60D with the noise reduction technology would do. I didn't have my shutter cable for locking the bulb, so I had to hold the release. Not ideal for long exposures, but the results were very nice!

Then I wanted to try some starscape stuff over Lake Antoine. The north side of the lake had a lot of wind and waves, so I went to the doc on the south side. A few nice shots. I took the temperature way down to get the blue in the sky:

Overall, I can't wait to try some more with the shutter cable. I have to go and pull that off the pole cam rig.
